Silk Way and the NAA provide professional training for aircraft maintenance specialists

24-09-2020

Silk Way Group, in partnership with the National Aviation Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is successfully implementing a project to train aircraft maintenance specialists

The Silk Way Group’s rapid growth in recent years has increased its need for qualified aircraft maintenance personnel. To meet this demand, the group’s member companies have launched training courses for aircraft maintenance specialists in partnership with the National Aviation Academy (NAA). High-level training of these skilled professionals is of paramount importance in maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft of all types, and plays a key role in ensuring flight safety.

The NAA is the only educational institution that offers higher, further and professional civil aviation qualifications in Azerbaijan. The Silk Way Group and the NAA have a long history of close cooperation, and last year agreed to create training courses for aircraft maintenance specialists. In autumn 2019, recruitment of candidates with secondary or higher education diplomas, a good knowledge of English, and an ambition to work in the civil aviation sector was announced.

Candidate screening and recruitment was undertaken jointly by NAA instructors and Silk Way Group specialists, with the participation of the State Civil Aviation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, courses continue to be taught online through the Microsoft Teams distance learning program, as recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Courses last for 21 months, and graduation of the first class of specialists is planned for the end of 2021.

After completion of their studies, participants who pass the exams will receive their certificates from an educational institution that meets the standards of both the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Community’s Aviation Regulations, and then can be considered as candidates for a number of positions in the Silk Way Group.

“I am sure that the courses we have initiated will become a reliable platform for training highly qualified specialists in the field of aviation technology, the demand for which is currently growing steadily. I hope that this project will be successfully continued in the future,” said Emin Safarov, General Director of Silk Way Technics.

Silk Way Group is a group of dynamically developing companies that plays a key role in the economy of Azerbaijan. Established in 2006 to manage air cargo operations from Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, the group currently consists of three companies providing air cargo transportation and aircraft maintenance services: Silk Way Airlines, Silk Way West and Silk Way Technics.
